Appointment Coordinator

Job Summary

Coordinates scheduling functions and provides clerical support for Lumina Imaging. Performs tasks to ensure that patient have financial clearance for medical procedures prior to the date of service, including but not limited to insurance verifications, authorizations for services, and patient estimates. Serves as preliminary contact for imaging patients. Gathers and analyzes patient demographic and payor data to achieve optimal reimbursement for the Lumina Imaging. Initiates the appropriate patient registration, scheduling, pre-certification, and authorization for services. Collects payments for services and arranges payment options. Actively supports all of Lumina Imaging operations. Demonstrates outstanding customer service and ensures a positive patient experience during all facets of the visit. Required:

High School graduate or passage of a high school equivalency exam.
One year of relevant experience in procedural scheduling, medical billing, coding, and/or medical terminology.
Proficiency with a personal computer and related software applications.
Exceptional customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
Ability to effectively multi-task and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Preferred:

Three years medical office experience to include procedural scheduling and insurance authorization duties.
Previous experience working with managed care, insurance companies and other healthcare related vendors.
Experience working with an electronic medical record.

Physical Requirements:

May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.
May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion.
Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.
Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 – $21.00 per hour
